Key takeaway: Across 844,234 recruiting outreach sequences sent through the Noon platform between August 2025 and July 2026, 16.6% of contacted candidates replied — and nearly 1 in 5 (18.8%) replied when the sequence started on LinkedIn. 65% of all replies arrived only after a follow-up message, the median reply came 2.8 days after first contact, and LinkedIn connection requests were accepted 19.4% of the time.
Most recruiting benchmarks are surveys. These are measurements. This report aggregates twelve months of anonymized outreach data from the Noon platform — every number below is computed directly from message logs, not from asking recruiters what they think their reply rate is.
Use these numbers to set expectations for your own outreach: if your reply rate is well under 16%, your targeting or messaging has room to improve; if you send only one message per candidate, you are leaving roughly two-thirds of potential replies on the table.

What is a good reply rate for recruiting outreach?
16.6% of candidates contacted through multi-step recruiting sequences replied over the last twelve months. That is the per-candidate rate across a full sequence (typically 3–5 touches), not a per-email open or response rate.
Reply rates climbed as high as 19.7% in March 2026 and held between 18% and 20% through the spring — candidates reply more when hiring markets are active. A campaign that converts 1 in 5 contacted candidates into a conversation is performing at the top of the range we observe.
Channel matters: sequences that opened with a LinkedIn touch converted at 18.8%, versus 16.4% for email-first sequences. The detailed breakdown is in our candidate reply rate benchmarks.
How many follow-ups should recruiters send?
64.9% of all replies arrived after the first message. Only 35.1% of repliers responded to the opening touch; 27% replied at message two, 17.9% at message three, and 10.4% at message four.
A single cold message captures barely a third of the candidates who were willing to talk. The full step-by-step distribution — and where the curve flattens — is in the follow-up benchmarks.
How fast do candidates reply?
- 25% of replies arrive within 11 hours of first contact.
- The median reply takes 2.8 days.
- 75% arrive within 7.1 days; 90% within 14.2 days.
Practical rule: keep a sequence alive for at least two weeks before marking a candidate unresponsive. One in ten eventual replies comes later than day 7.
Replies concentrate early in the week — Tuesday is the highest-volume reply day, and weekend reply volume runs roughly 77% below weekdays. Timing details, including hour-of-day patterns, are in when to send recruiting outreach.
What is a good LinkedIn connection acceptance rate?
Across 76,507 recruiter-sent connection requests, 19.4% were accepted. Once a candidate accepted, 34.2% replied to a follow-up message — a warmer conversion than any cold channel we measure.
InMail, by contrast, converted at 5.5%. The connection-request-then-message path produced roughly 6x the reply rate of InMail in our data. Full numbers: LinkedIn connection acceptance benchmarks and InMail vs connection request.
Methodology
- Dataset: 844,234 anonymized candidate outreach sequences initiated between 2025-08-01 and 2026-07-31 on the Noon platform, spanning email and LinkedIn channels across companies hiring primarily for white-collar roles in the US and internationally.
- Reply rate = sequences where the candidate sent at least one genuine reply ÷ sequences initiated. Bounces and out-of-office autoresponders are excluded from the reply count.
- Time-to-reply percentiles are computed on the 147,882 sequences with a timestamped reply.
- LinkedIn metrics are computed from 76,507 connection requests and 2,920 InMails sent through connected LinkedIn accounts.
- All figures are aggregates; no customer-, role-, or candidate-identifiable data is included.

At Noon, this dataset is also what our autonomous outreach agent is tuned on — sequence length, send timing, and channel selection default to what the data says works.
FAQ
What is the average reply rate for recruiting cold outreach in 2026? 16.6% of candidates contacted through multi-step recruiting sequences replied, based on 844,234 sequences measured between August 2025 and July 2026 (Noon AI platform data). LinkedIn-first sequences averaged 18.8%.
How many touchpoints does candidate outreach need? At least three to four. 64.9% of replies arrive after the first message, and messages two through four capture 55% of all replies.
How long should recruiters wait for a reply? Two weeks. The median reply arrives in 2.8 days, but 10% of replies arrive after day 14.
Is LinkedIn or email better for recruiting outreach? LinkedIn-first sequences replied at 18.8% versus 16.4% for email-first in our data — but the best-performing approach uses both, since multi-channel sequences reach candidates where they actually respond.
