Key takeaway: $39.99 a location a month is 7shifts' lowest paid price. Its pricing page, read on 2 November 2026, lists Essentials at $39.99, Pro at $79.99 and Premium at $134.99 per location per month on annual billing, and $44.99, $89.99 and $149.99 on monthly billing. The free Comp plan covers one location and up to 15 employees. Every paid plan is billed per location, so a three-location group on Pro pays $239.97 a month billed annually or $269.97 billed monthly.

7shifts is scheduling, time clock, tip and payroll software built for restaurants. Unlike Deputy or When I Work, it does not charge per user. It charges per location and caps how many employees each plan allows. This page covers the list prices on 7shifts' own pricing page, the add-ons, the payroll fees in its help center, and what the totals look like for one to 10 locations.

How much does 7shifts cost per month?

7shifts has four plans. The page loads on annual billing, which it labels "Save 10% with Annual Billing." Prices are in US dollars, per location, per month.

Plan Annual billing Monthly billing Employee limit per location
Comp Free Free Up to 15 (single location only)
Essentials $39.99 $44.99 Up to 30
Pro $79.99 $89.99 Up to 60
Premium $134.99 $149.99 Unlimited

7shifts describes Essentials as advanced scheduling and team communication, Pro as scheduling plus time clocking and compliance, and Premium as "scheduling, payroll, plus tip and task management." The plan-comparison table on the same page shows the Hiring features (tracking candidates, adding questions to job postings and posting to job boards) on Pro and Premium only.

The page footer says "New customer pricing. Prices are subject to change." Accounts on older plans may be paying different rates.

How much does annual billing save on 7shifts?

Annual billing cuts the per-location price by $5 on Essentials, $10 on Pro and $15 on Premium. That is an 11.1% saving on Essentials and Pro and a 10.0% saving on Premium.

Plan Per location per year, annual Per location per year, monthly Saved per location per year
Essentials $479.88 $539.88 $60.00
Pro $959.88 $1,079.88 $120.00
Premium $1,619.88 $1,799.88 $180.00

Admins can switch from monthly to annual on the Billing page, and 7shifts' help center says the unused part of the current month "is automatically prorated as a discount on this annual invoice." Going the other way, from annual to monthly, requires contacting support.

What does 7shifts cost for multiple locations?

Because the plan and its add-ons apply to every location, cost scales in a straight line with the number of sites. 7shifts' billing article says "you'll be billed the same amount per location, except when pay-per-use add-ons apply."

Locations Essentials (annual / monthly) Pro (annual / monthly) Premium (annual / monthly)
1 $39.99 / $44.99 $79.99 / $89.99 $134.99 / $149.99
2 $79.98 / $89.98 $159.98 / $179.98 $269.98 / $299.98
3 $119.97 / $134.97 $239.97 / $269.97 $404.97 / $449.97
5 $199.95 / $224.95 $399.95 / $449.95 $674.95 / $749.95
10 $399.90 / $449.90 $799.90 / $899.90 $1,349.90 / $1,499.90

Ten locations on Premium cost $16,198.80 a year on annual billing. 7shifts says it offers discounts to restaurant franchises and groups, and term agreements for an "Enterprise discount model," but it publishes no rates for either.

The employee caps also scale with locations. 7shifts' help center defines the account cap as "Employee limit per location x Number of active locations," so two Essentials locations share a limit of 60 employees, and an employee who is not assigned to any location still counts toward it.

What do 7shifts' add-ons cost?

Add-ons are priced the same on both billing toggles. Once enabled, 7shifts says, "an add-on applies to all locations on the account," so each per-location add-on multiplies by your site count.

Add-on Price Included in
7shifts Payroll (US only) $39.99 a location a month, plus $6 a month per employee paid Base fee is $0 on Premium
Tip Management $49.99 a location a month Premium
Manager Log Book $14.99 a location a month Not bundled
Task Management $12.99 a location a month Premium
Employee Onboarding (US only) $2.99 per onboarding package sent Not bundled

Premium's card lists the bundled items with "valued at" figures: Tip Management $49.99, Task Management $12.99, 7shifts Payroll $39.99 and Employee Training $99.00, a stated total of $201.97 a month. The more useful comparison is with Pro: Pro plus Tip Management and Task Management costs $142.97 a month on annual billing or $152.97 monthly, slightly more than Premium's $134.99 or $149.99. If you would buy tip pooling and task lists anyway, Premium is the cheaper route, and it also waives the $39.99 payroll base fee and lifts the employee cap.

At the time of checking, the pricing page also ran a limited-time offer: "Get 3 months of 7shifts Payroll free," with "Don't pay for Payroll until your first pay run."

What does 7shifts Payroll cost per employee?

The $6 per-employee fee is counted on unique employees paid in a month. 7shifts' help center says "You are only charged once per employee per month, even if they appear in multiple payroll runs."

For one location with 25 employees paid through 7shifts, on monthly billing:

Plan Plan fee Payroll base 25 employees at $6 Total a month
Essentials $44.99 $39.99 $150.00 $234.98
Pro $89.99 $39.99 $150.00 $279.98
Premium $149.99 $0 $150.00 $299.99

Payroll also has event fees listed in 7shifts' help center, including $175 per amended tax return, $0.65 per employee for next-day pay, $3 per printed tax document mailed and $25 per wire. Onboarding packages at $2.99 each add $59.80 for 20 new hires.

Is 7shifts free?

Yes, for one location. The Comp plan is free "For single locations" with up to 15 employees and basic scheduling, one-way announcements and availability and time-off requests. Paid plans start with a 14-day trial: new accounts get "all features of 7shifts Pro plan for 14 days" and "There is no credit card needed to start the trial." When the trial ends, you can "continue on our free 'Comp' plan, or subscribe."

Existing admins who trial a higher plan should read the fine print: 7shifts says those plan trials "will automatically upgrade to the new plan after 14 days."

How does 7shifts billing work if you cancel or close for the season?

On monthly billing, the FAQ says: "If you cancel, we'll bill you for the current month, but won't bill you again if you're not under a contract." Downgrades are "scheduled for the end of your current billing period," on both monthly and annual cycles.

For seasonal restaurants, "7shifts doesn't offer seasonal holds." What it does offer is per-location deactivation: "7shifts doesn't charge you for deactivated Locations, and you can reactivate them when they reopen." If the whole business closes for the season, the help center says to cancel the account; 7shifts stores account data for 2 years so it can be reactivated. Payment is by credit card, or ACH by request.

How does 7shifts compare to Homebase, When I Work, Deputy and Connecteam?

The five tools meter price differently: 7shifts and Homebase per location, When I Work and Deputy per user, Connecteam per bundle of users. Prices below are monthly-billing list prices read on each vendor's own pricing page on 2 November 2026.

Tool Cheapest paid plan (monthly billing) Pricing unit Free option
7shifts $44.99 a location a month (Essentials) Per location, up to 30 employees 1 location, up to 15 employees
Homebase $30 a location a month (Essentials) Per location, unlimited employees 1 location, up to 10 employees
When I Work $2.50 a user a month (single location) Per user 14-day trial
Deputy $5.50 a user a month (Lite) Per user, $30 minimum per invoice Free trial
Connecteam $35 a month (Operations Basic) First 30 users, then $1 a user Up to 10 users

Monthly list cost for one location on each vendor's cheapest paid plan that fits the team:

Employees 7shifts Homebase Essentials When I Work Deputy Lite Connecteam Ops Basic
10 $44.99 (Essentials) $30 $25 $55 $35
30 $44.99 (Essentials) $30 $75 $165 $35
60 $89.99 (Pro) $30 $150 $330 $65
100 $149.99 (Premium) $30 $250 $550 $105

On sticker price, When I Work is the cheapest for the smallest team in the table, Homebase Essentials is the cheapest from 30 employees up, and 7shifts sits in the middle. Against per-user tools, 7shifts Essentials becomes the cheaper option from nine employees versus Deputy Lite and from 18 employees versus When I Work. The plans are not identical bundles: 7shifts' case rests on restaurant-specific features such as tip pooling, a manager log book and labor compliance, so compare features as well as price. Our pricing checks for Homebase, When I Work, Deputy and Connecteam cover each one in detail, and our time tracking software comparison covers the category.

How does Noon fit next to 7shifts?

7shifts runs the restaurant team you already have: schedules, clock-ins, tips and payroll, and, on Pro and Premium, a hiring tool that posts jobs and tracks the people who apply. It does not go out and find candidates who never applied. When a restaurant group needs more managers, chefs or hourly staff than inbound applicants supply, that is a sourcing job, and it matters most in high-volume recruiting and hospitality hiring.

Noon is an AI sourcer built for that side. It searches the whole web for candidates, not just LinkedIn, evaluates them against your role's criteria, finds contact details, runs personalized email and SMS outreach and books interviews, with 20+ ATS integrations. Noon sells one plan with unlimited sourcing, unlimited email enrichment, unlimited contacts, unlimited agents and unlimited seats, so cost does not climb with locations or headcount. Noon does not publish a dollar price; pricing is quote-based. For the rest of the stack, see the recruiting software pricing index.

Limitations

  • These are point-in-time US list prices for new customers on 2 November 2026, before tax. 7shifts states that prices are subject to change.
  • 7shifts Payroll and Employee Onboarding are US only, and payroll event fees depend on what happens in a given month, so the payroll table covers plan, base and per-employee fees only.
  • 7shifts publishes no rates for franchise and group discounts or enterprise term agreements.
  • The comparison uses each vendor's cheapest plan that fits the team size on monthly billing at one location. The plans include different features, and annual billing lowers every vendor's price.
  • Third-party pages in search results still quote retired 7shifts plan names and older prices; this page uses only figures on 7shifts' own site.
