“Recruiting is changing faster than ever, and the leaders who succeed will be those who remain adaptable, continue learning, and welcome new opportunities to improve.”
Elizabeth (Liz) Clement has been named to the Talent 100, Class of 2026, the annual award recognizing the 100 most exceptional leaders and practitioners in talent acquisition. Honorees are selected by the Talent 100 committee from thousands of nominations and candidates across the industry, chosen for the impact of their work, the depth of their craft, and their influence on the future of recruiting. This is Elizabeth's story.
For Liz Clement, recruiting was never something she stumbled into by accident. It was where her career began. Armed with a degree in Human Resources, she entered the profession as a Recruiting Coordinator, working shoulder to shoulder with experienced recruiters and learning the foundations of talent acquisition from the very beginning.
That early apprenticeship became the launching point for a much broader HR career. As she expanded into general human resources, she carried her passion for recruiting with her rather than leaving it behind, and today, as Director, U.S. Human Resources at Hydrosat, that foundation still shapes the people-first approach she brings to talent leadership.
Learning Through Great Leaders and Strong Networks
Looking back, Clement credits the leaders around her for much of the shape her career has taken. Early on, she worked for a manager with deep expertise in workforce development and organizational design who did far more than simply manage her. That leader took Clement under her wing, shared knowledge generously, and pushed her toward continuous learning and professional development.
More recently, she worked with a leader whose gift was of a different kind: the autonomy to do her best work. Instead of micromanaging, the relationship rested on trust and partnership, and it gave Clement room to grow both professionally and personally.
Formal leadership, however, tells only part of the story. Clement believes mentorship and professional networking have played an equally important role throughout her career. By surrounding herself with peers, participating in networking groups, and regularly trading ideas with other talent professionals, she has built a support system that continues to help her navigate an ever-changing recruiting landscape.
How AI Is Changing Recruiting
Clement sees AI as an increasingly valuable tool across the recruiting process. From reviewing resumes to comparing candidates against evolving market demands, it gives recruiters faster access to information and deeper insight, both of which support better hiring decisions.
She is equally clear-eyed about one of the industry's growing challenges. As the technology becomes more sophisticated, recruiters have to be confident that the person behind the resume is genuinely who they claim to be, which has made verifying candidate authenticity a central part of modern recruiting.
Even so, Clement views AI as a positive force. Organizations that integrate it thoughtfully into the hiring journey, she believes, signal a forward-thinking mindset while creating real opportunities to improve both recruiter efficiency and the candidate experience.
Advice for Talent Leaders Heading into 2026
Her counsel to fellow talent leaders begins with posture: approach AI with curiosity rather than hesitation. Keeping an open mind and embracing new technologies is what will keep recruiters ahead as the profession continues to evolve. Just as important is the deliberate work of building a professional network. Having trusted peers to exchange ideas with, discuss challenges, and learn from creates a form of continuous growth that no technology can replace.
The urgency behind that advice is easy to understand. Skill requirements are shifting, multiple generations now work side by side, and AI is accelerating the pace of change inside every organization. Recruiting, in Clement's view, is changing faster than ever, and the leaders who succeed will be those who remain adaptable, continue learning, and welcome new opportunities to improve.
By pairing lifelong learning with a people-first mindset, Clement represents the kind of talent leader helping organizations navigate the future of recruiting while staying grounded in what matters most: people.
The Talent 100 exists to celebrate the people shaping the future of how the world hires, and few embody that better than Elizabeth.
