2026 Talent 100 Honoree

Julia Arpag

Aligned Recruitment
“Every single action you take is you building your personal brand.”

Julia Arpag has been named to the Talent 100, Class of 2026, the annual award recognizing up to 100 leaders in each category of talent acquisition. Honorees are nominated by peers or found by committees that look for excellent work wherever it happens, then chosen for the depth of their craft and their impact on hiring. This is Julia's story.

When Julia Arpag launched Aligned Recruitment in August 2023, the Atlanta-based tech recruiting firm did not have to start from zero. The bootstrapped business took off quickly, and its founder credits that momentum to something built long before the company existed: a reputation for integrity and follow-through, earned over years of work with clients and candidates.

Roughly a decade into her recruiting career, Julia runs the firm on a simple premise. Recruiters create the most value when they are talking to people, and almost everything else can be handed off. Her days are spent on the phone with clients and candidates, connecting great people with great leaders, and vice versa, so that everyone goes home happy. "I really do believe I'm making the world a better place," she says. A self-described people person and extrovert, she calls the work "the dream" and says she is deeply grateful for it.

From the Admissions Office to Corporate Recruiting

Julia's path into talent began in college admissions rather than in a corporate office. After graduating from college, she spent a year or two working a range of jobs while figuring out her direction. Back home in New York, she landed a role with a pre-college program, and when that ended, she moved into admissions recruitment as an admissions counselor, and the work suited her immediately.

What she did not want was to spend the rest of her career recruiting 17-year-olds. The work of recruitment itself had taken hold, however, so she pivoted into corporate recruiting and has loved it ever since. The extrovert in her found a natural home in a job built around constant conversation with the people on both sides of a hire.

The Mentors Who Shaped Her

Her first corporate recruiting job lasted a year and came with a difficult manager. What made that year valuable was a coworker who helped keep her steady. That colleague taught Julia much of what she knows about sourcing and candidate management and, just as importantly, about resilience. Julia says she will always be grateful to her.

Since founding Aligned Recruitment, Julia has leaned on a wide circle of coaches, mentors, and leaders. Two stand out. Diane Prince, founder of Caya, has started and sold multiple staffing businesses, including one in a $28 million exit. Today Caya serves recruitment founders with offshore support in India and the Philippines. Julia calls Diane a huge impact on her and describes her simply as incredible.

The second, Shae Bynes, comes from outside the industry entirely. Shae founded Kingdom Driven Entrepreneur, a faith-based entrepreneurship community, and like Julia she is a Christian female founder, a demographic Julia describes as small and hard to find. That shared ground allows Shae to speak into Julia's life from three angles at once: faith, the perspective of a woman in business, and the realities of running a company.

Freeing Recruiters to Do What Only They Can Do

Because Julia has been recruiting for about 10 years, she has never known a workflow without meaningful technology in it. She has watched AI grow dramatically more influential over the past couple of years, and rather than resisting that shift, she has embraced it. AI tools for sourcing, in her view, are valuable precisely because they speed up the tasks that once consumed a recruiter's day.

The payoff is more time on the phone with candidates and clients, which she considers the best use of any recruiter's hours. "I'm a huge fan of using AI to automate the things we don't need to be doing, so we can free up our time to do the things only we can do," she says.

That philosophy extends well beyond sourcing. As a founder, Julia repeats a mantra to herself every single day: if she does not personally need to be doing something, it should be delegated, either to another person or to AI. The rule keeps her attention where she believes it belongs: on people.

Advice for Talent Leaders in 2027

Heading into 2027, Julia points talent leaders to the force that has shaped her career both before and after becoming a founder: personal brand. She is quick to clarify that she does not simply mean posting on social media or blowing up LinkedIn. "Every single action you take is you building your personal brand," she says.

Her own story is the proof. When she started the business, it took off quickly because the clients and candidates she had worked with already knew what to expect from her. They knew she had integrity. They knew she had a bias for action. They knew she would do exactly what she said she would do. That trust, accumulated over years, became the foundation of a company.

Her prescription is simple to state and demanding to live out. Show up. Be a good partner to everyone in your world, personally and professionally. In Julia's view, that is the single most impactful thing anyone can do for their career.

The Talent 100 exists to celebrate the people shaping the future of how the world hires, and few embody that better than Julia. We are honored to welcome Julia Arpag to the Talent 100, Class of 2026, and grateful for the experience, perspective, and craft they bring to this community. Congratulations, Julia. Welcome to the Talent 100.
