Security Software Engineering Lead

Subject matter expert on PostgreSQL. Responsible for reviewing database related changes across all teams and projects. Maintained and upgraded database cloud instances, extended LVM groups and tuned Postgres configs. Wrote and deployed migrations to large production databases with new schema and PL/pgSQL stored procedures. Created microservices with Go and Kubernetes for database statistics, photo geolocation, facial recognition, batch uploading, image hashing and automatic deduplication. Rearchitected services to add Redis caching on access control, added seeking and caching to on-the-fly video transcoding, used Google BigQuery for data warehousing of analytics. Interviewed candidates for backend software engineering roles.

Senior Software Engineer

Wrote scripts to load-test and record performance statistics of KVM appliances. Debugged performance issues on Postgres and Influx databases. Coded optimized subclasses for a GSM simulator, achieving a 300-500% increase in performance. Designed a tool to log system statistics into a SQL database.

Performance Software Engineer

Built an embedded Linux OS with Buildroot for use in a new microwave router product. Worked on Makefiles and Jenkins for software builds. Created Debian packages to configure the build environment. Evaluated and implemented databases on an embedded system. Defined system requirements with Jama.

Created server actors with Scala and Akka to accept logs using different protocols. Defined regular expressions for parsing syslog messages from a set of RFC and non-standard formats. Integrated Java libraries in Scala for SNMP support. Wrote automated unit tests in Scala.

Worked on microcode for a new NPU (network processing unit). Constructed a testing infrastructure and tests in incr Tcl for microcode functionality using a simulator, which allowed for immediate feature complete testing, no longer requiring the use of prototype hardware. Supported the test infrastructure and made enhancements based on requests from engineering and QA teams. Created Python scripts to periodically generate reports on functionality and performance statistics of committed microcode.

Tested network system performance using both automated and manual tests. Utilized the Ixia Tcl Automation Environment and proprietary traffic generators. Analyzed Key Performance Indicator metrics, tracking defects and performance regressions. Wrote, debugged, and improved testing code in incr Tcl.

Quality Assurance Analyst

Configured service provider equipment including core routers, DSLAMs, and NNIs. Implemented future technologies such as IPv6, NAT64, and Cisco IOS XR in a large test lab. Contributed to a Proof of Concept Report for Juniper Networks. Mentored a junior co-op student in learning networking fundamentals.

Network Specialist

Conducted tests on a variety of networking equipment such as enterprise routers and switches. Authored numerous enterprise networking service certification papers.
