Leading the API Framework initiative, designing a new internal developer platform to enable developers across the company to build their own APIs. Working through prototypes, and designing a way to unify our separate read and write API frameworks, trying to reduce tech debt and use more off the shelf tooling. Simultaneously, also working on Interviewing 2.0: a major version bump of our interview process. We're looking at how we can build principles, and training programs, that will both improve the questions we ask, and the calibration of our interviewers.
Platform Area Tech Lead
Dec 2020 - Dec 2021

I was the tech lead of the Platform Area, which includes the Developer Success, App Experience, Integrations, and API product teams. I worked with team technical leads and ICs to ensure technical quality and consistent cross-team decision making, and with our area leadership throughout our product process. My goal was to ensure all teams were executing quickly with a high technical bar. Created and launched an internal public application process called the Fair Allocation of Internal Responsibilities (FAIR) Process. This aims to create a fair, transparent and consistent way to find folks to fill internal roles (e.g. tech lead) inside the company, to ensure internal promotions can be made confidently and without bias.
Software Engineering Manager
Jun 2019 - Jan 2021

Software Engineering Manager and Tech Lead for the API team. The API team builds the public API for apps that integrate with data inside Asana. This team aims to make the API appealing to developers and impacts Asana's business by enabling apps that streamline our customers' work. I also lead Asana's intern program for two years. This involved figuring out how to structure our intern program so that interns had a great experience and wanted to come back (70%+ return offer acceptance rate!) and leading the facilitation group (group who are in charge of final hiring decision) on intern huddles.

Android Engineer, on a small scrappy team. Served as tech lead for a year, working on scaling the team while continuing to launch new and exciting products. During this time I also cofounded and was a co-lead of Team Rainbow, Asana's LGBT+ Employee Resource Group. Organized multiple company wide events with external participants, helped build the initial committee and scale the org from zero to over a hundred members, involved in diversity onboarding: https://blog.asana.com/2017/11/lgbtq-friendly-workplace-team-rainbow/
