I lead 7 diverse teams across backend cloud services development, communications applications and native visualization tools 1. Cloud Platform: The core cloud infrastructure, across AWS and GCP, upon which Argo services are built. Plus the SRE team to help keep our services healthy. 2. Overwatch: The real-time fleet dispatch and monitoring system. Manages dispatch from a mobile app through to the vehicle. It also supports a Mission Control Center to address the unique needs of Autonomous Vehicles. 3. Remote Guidance: The system that allows a human to remotely assist an AV. When the AV encounters a situation that it cannot understand it calls for help from a call center of remote guidance operators who review live camera and autonomy data and provide high level instructions on how to proceed, all within a few seconds. 4. Visualization: This team builds the real-time in car views that co-pilots rely on to monitor the intentions of the AV while it is driving, and a simplified “over the shoulder” view for consumption by non-technical internal and external audiences. A small sample of what this team does is below. 5. Data Core: When the AV fleet is driving test miles, it is also logging, a lot. This team provides the core systems to ingest, process and manage the PBs of data that testing an autonomous driving system generates. 6. Log Apps: Manages the tooling and workflows to allow stored logs to be reviewed and re-processed 7. Jobs Platform: Builds the batch processing framework upon which millions of “virtual world” simulated tests are run to validate every AV build Technologies: AWS, GCP, gRPC, C++, Kotlin, Swift, Java, Communications / Network Programming, Kubernetes, OpenGL.
