BitGravity (Tata Communications America)
Jun 2011 - Apr 2017
• 5 yrs 11 mos• Led design and development of software features and system enhancement for Content Delivery Network (CDN) using C++, C, Python, Java and PHP.
• Researched and developed “Distributed Content Storage”. Fully distributed, fault-tolerant, self-healing, object storage to serve as a backend for new CDN service offering.
• Designed and implemented active caching proxy for reliable metadata distribution on a global scale. Set of multi-threaded, non-blocking microservices, resulted in about 60x decrease in data propagation time and significant increase in delivery infrastructure resiliency.
• Proposed, Led, and developed “Live Dynamic Ingest” project. A set of system-wide software design enhancements to address static provisioning and manual failover problems. This cross-functional design provided a dynamic, cluster-based, and highly available service which resulted in 80% video ingest capacity increase.
• Designed and developed real-time stream meta-data injection feature. A security feature for CDN HTTP progressive streaming service. Resulted in enhanced end to end video security and troubleshooting capabilities.
• Initiated, designed and developed system-testing framework using PHPUnit and DBUnit for PHP web services with MySQL database. Resulted in finding major database issues in the first month of writing tests. The framework is now the core part of continuous integration pipeline and contains thousands of tests.

SkyWare Inc
Apr 2006 - Sep 2006
• 6 mos* Designed and developed DNS compression module as part of SkyWare proxy product to minimize DNS traffic and latency over satellite multi-access channel. The DNS module was developed in C++ in Unix and successfully tested in alpha release of the product and reduced the DNS traffic and latency significantly.
* In SkyWare I had the opportunity to work closely with Prof. Norman Abramson, the inventor of Aloha protocol.
