Some of my open work: - Built RealChar https://github.com/Shaunwei/RealChar for realtime AI companion/characters (5.9K stars, featured on Github Trending #1) - Help cofounded TigerLab (tigerlab.ai) for LLM Safety Evaluation https://github.com/tigerlab-ai/tiger Beyond them, I spent time crafting several B2B/productivity services on evaluation, RAG, content moderation and generation.

POC for Generative AI @ Nuro TL roles in Simulation/ML Platform/Infrastructure orgs. - Led design and development of multiple Simulation and ML Infra projects critical to autonomous driving software. Led a team of a few engineers and ~15 ops. Acting as Area TL in larger org. - Contributed to multiple company-wide milestones and major launches of the Autonomy system. - Drove compute cost reduction of XX M/year in simulation, ML and data platform systems. - Promoted to Staff software engineer within 1 year owing to various contributions throughout the software organization.

Cloud AI/AutoML org, focusing on large scale Computer Vision. - Founding TL of a new Enterprise AI initiative, leading 8 engineers and cross-functional teams (PM, UX, PDE, Privacy, etc). - Collaboration with Google Brain and Geo teams on computer vision in geospatial imagery. - Reached POC commitments with multiple public utility companies and local Departments of Transportations as customers.

Team lead of Map infra and systems. Led a team of junior and senior engineers across different timezones. Granted 10 US patents on Localization, Radar, HD Map, self-driving car technology and Geodesy.

Google Play, Core Analytics - Built Data Warehouse (Bigtable/Spanner/F1) for 1 billion+ users and multi-PB data from scratch. - Built systems to power analytics and targeting. - User data privacy & compliance. - Made Google Play GDPR compliant! Google Search, Knowledge Graph - TV & Movies - Multiple impactful user-facing projects in TV/Movies search & discovery - Improved data quality and freshness of TV/Movies search results in en-US and i18n countries. - Launched TV showtimes in Google Search with great impact. Granted 1 US patent in TV field. Won a Google Perfy Award for building realtime service to comply with GDPR.

Developed the backend infrastructures for GoTo Products (e.g. GoToMeeting), one of the largest distributed audio conferencing systems in the world. - Designed and implemented REST APIs for the Operation Services to provide hot-fix of service failure and enhance monitoring coverage/efficiency. - Improved inter-service messaging. - Fixed concurrency bugs.

Software Engineer at Hybrid Cloud Services Group. - Performance Engineering of vCloud Director. - Developed a deployment automation framework of vCloud Director Platform.

* Sogou is a leading internet company in China, with its IME products being 1st in Chinese market and search services being 2nd. Sogou went public on NYSE in 2017 (SOGO). PM Intern at Web Search Product Team - Contributed to the design of Sogou Wenda, a social Q&A community service on Web and Mobile Web Platforms from scratch. Sogou Wenda is later merged with Tencent Wenwen and now the 2nd Q&A community in China. - Designed and implemented various parts of the User Incentive System of Sogou Wenda.

Bing Multimedia Search Team - Analyzed user activity metric database of Bing Video Search in SQL and reported analysis-based User Experience (UX) improvement suggestions to Dev and PM teams. - Designed an algorithm for dynamic staggered layout of Video Search result page.
