I pride myself in managing a team that always delivers high quality releases on time. In the 4 years I have managed the team we have never missed a milestone while delivering three major releases of Bento desktop (on shelves in Apple retail and on the Mac App Store), 2 major releases of Bento iPhone, and 3 major releases of Bento iPad. In addition to managing the team, I personally develop a feature or two every release to maintain my technical skills. Accomplishments • Shipped Award Winning Bento Software - Macworld 4.5 stars • Responsible for the development of products that sold over 1.5 million units • Bento for Mac 870,000 units iPhone 300,000 units iPad 390,000 units • Shipped Bento for iPad one of the highest ranked apps on the iTunes app store 4.5 stars • Managed a 10 development engineers, 3 of whom were remote. • Built great working relationships with senior management, QA, PM’s, documentation, and localization groups.

Prior to managing the team, I was an individual contributor developing features and architecting the product. I designed and built the product’s data layer. Our data layer is similar to core data but supports dynamic schema. I designed the native XML / JSON import export engine and file format. XML is used for schema and presentation data, keeping the complex and dynamic data in a structured format. Record data is stored in JSON keeping the file format small and allowing for fast java script parsing when presented on the web.

I was the project lead through six complete commercial product cycles while remaining an active individual contributor. My team provided the database abstraction layer allowing Clarify applications to function on a variety of database brands through a simple object model. As an individual contributor I designed and implemented reliable and extensible code. As a project lead I balanced design goals against target dates as well as coordinating design and testing with other teams. I also collaborated with the infrastructure team to design the unit testing framework.
