I interned on the Maps application team, responsible for developing the Maps application for Windows 10. During my internship, I developed a new feature, Venue Maps, a way to easily navigate and discover points of interest within venues such as airports, museums, and more. I owned the feature from start to finish, writing the developer specification, designing the architecture of the feature within the existing app, and implementing it in C# and XAML with data provided by internal API’s. I performed testing and performance optimization to prepare for it to ship. Venue Maps shipped in the September 2015 update of the Maps application for all Windows devices.

As an Explorer Intern, I spent twelve weeks on the Maps application team rotating between Program Manager, Software Development Engineer, and Software Development Engineer in Test (Quality) roles along with two other Explore interns. I developed and presented a spec for a new feature in the Maps application and helped develop the feature using C# and XAML. I worked with UX designers and researchers to develop effective and informative usability tests to inform our process and final spec.
